WHAT IS THE READ-ALOUD-A-THON?
We are asking you to read books out aloud with your kids and to pledge money to our Read-Aloud-a-thon.
WHY READ ALOUD?
Early childhood researchers have found that the benefits of early shared book reading to children, especially under the age of 3, contribute to the development of language and literacy skills and aids their preparation for school (Hoyne, C. & Egan, S.M. (2019) .
WHAT DOES MY PLEDGE / DONATION GO TO?
By donating / pledging, raised funds will be used by The Little Bugs Foundation to:
1. Make a direct contribution to fund a speech pathologist to detect speech and language disorders in children in socio disadvantaged communities;
and
2. contribute to the educating parents of children in low socio disadvantaged communities the benefits of early shared book reading

WHO is the Little Bugs Foundation?
The Little Bugs Foundation is a registered and approved charity managed by people with a passion to make a difference and who have existing experience in allied health. Its vision is the early detection and intervention for children with speech and language disorders in socio-economic disadvantaged communities.
Our mission is simple ‘Detecting Speech and Language delays in preschoolers’.
HOW WAS LITTLE BUGS FOUNDATION started?
We could see a need that wasn't being met. Over 70% of children who end up in the juvenile justice system are diagnosed with a speech and language disorder.
Government and related institutions are making progress but too much effort and resources are being taken up for people who have qualified for the NDIS. For those that have not and cannot afford private therapy there are not many options.
